Understanding Third-Party Costs & Allowances
While your plan fixes our funeral director fees, there are additional third-party costs required to carry out a cremation or burial. These fees are outside our direct control and are paid at the time of the funeral.
Please note: There will only be extra to pay at the time of the funeral if third-party costs exceed the allowance included when you purchase your plan, or if third-party prices increase by more than the growth of your plan fund. However, even if general prices rise in the future, you have the guarantee that there will be nothing more to pay for our specified funeral director services once your plan is paid in full.
Depending on the plan chosen, your Golden Charter plan includes a contribution toward these essential costs, which may include:
- Crematorium fees
- Minister or officiant fees
- Cemetery fees (opening an existing grave or preparing a new plot for burial or interment)
Other optional third-party services that can be considered or arranged include:
- Purchase of a burial plot or grave
- Venue or church hire fees
- Organist, musician, or soloist fees
- Memorials, headstones, or entries in a Book of Remembrance
- Catering, floral tributes, and newspaper announcements

The total retail price of your plan reflects the current equivalent cost of a funeral plus an arrangement fee of £350, which Golden Charter retains to cover the setup and administration of your plan.
Golden Charter offers multiple payment choices to suit your financial preferences. You can choose to make a single one-off payment or spread the cost over manageable monthly installments. We will provide all the transparent information you need to make an informed decision without any pressure.

What Happens When You Become a Plan Holder?
Once your plan is established, you will receive a personalised documentation pack containing:
- A comprehensive plan summary and certificate
- Our direct contact details as your nominated funeral director
- A personal membership card to carry in your purse or wallet
- Option to add a nominated representative who will receive a copy of your plan details for future reference
Golden Charter will also send you a written statement every three years via post. As your chosen local funeral director, Robson Funeral Care will maintain full confidential records of your plan. When the time comes, one phone call to our team is all it takes to activate your plan and put your exact wishes into motion.
How Your Money is Safeguarded
Your payments are held securely within the Golden Charter Trust. Managing almost £1.21 billion in assets(3), the Trust operates under an independent Board of Trustees completely separate from Golden Charter. Their sole mandate is to safeguard your funds and guarantee that our funeral director services are paid for when required, no matter how far into the future that may be.
